Outlook Mac 2016 Prompts For Password Repeatedly: Causes and Solutions

We have the same problem since yesterday. We are using Exchange 2016 + Outlook for Mac 16.12 and tried all these keychain-fixes, but no luck. Users are re-entering the password and it keeps the prompt away for 5-10 minutes. I told them to use OWA the next days/weeks until there is a fix.

Outlook Mac 2016 Prompts For Password Repeatedly

I have found that by reverting to Outlook version 16.11 resolves the password prompt issue. Nothing with Keychain or passwords made any difference.Having tested Outlook version 16.12, 16.13 & 16.14, I can confirm all 3 of these versions result in multiple password prompts. It looks like the recently introduced Autodiscover mechanism is the cause of the issue and may give different results based on who your Exchange supplier is.

I did a recent Microsoft update on my Mac 2016 and Outlook constantly prompts to enter in password every 5 seconds. I went into Keychain entrees to delete Exchange (that is the only one I found in my keychain from the suggested list ) however, it will NOT delete. I tried deleting , restarting my computer to see it would have helped . Nothing. Any suggestions?

Had a client whose Mac outlook 2016 app was repeatedly prompting for password after we enabled two factor authentication for their tenancy. Removing the keychain entries listed in this post was the answer. thanks for the info!

How do I fix OUTLOOK 365 from asking me repeatedly to enter my email password again and again. The OUTLOOK is version 16.61. I enter the password and OUTLOOK performs the proper download/sync from my email provider (Earthlink). But, it will ask again the next time I go to my email, even 10 minutes later.

I have tried several times your solution, but outlook keeps asking the password. I noticed my old email address (@maps4industry.be) is mentioned in the credentials, so I must first change with my new email address (@moreway.be).

As all, we know that the Mac operating system is the best machine in terms of security and reliability among the globe. I don't know if this will help, but I finally found that the problem was not on the desktop side, but on the server/hosting side. I use exchange server, hosted by Microsoft, and had to turn off "Security Defaults" in my Office portal. Once I had done that, Outlook stopped asking repeatedly for the password. I guess the problem might be the same with other email hosts as well, just try to find out if there is a setting somewhere on gmail/yahoo/outlook or whatever you are using. Gmail have a "support for less secure apps" setting that caused some trouble if it was enabled.

I am trying to setup my email using Outlook 2016.no matter what I do, it keeps giving me an error message.I've tried to use the auto setup then I tried to set up manually.it keeps asking me to enter my password - which I've done.HELP!!

At first I thought it may be a Microsoft issue, but the users don't get password prompts when using Outlook normally - only when sending an invoice through outlook, and as a reminder the security dialog box specifically says QuickBooks. I've tried googling this issue as well, but nobody else seems to have it.

Hello @katherinejoyceO . I did recreate the mail profiles on 2 of the machines, and it seems to have resolved the issues on one of them, at least for now. The other user is still getting prompted or her outlook password every time she sends an invoice though. They are all on the same version of outlook, and have always used it for years without the password prompt. Is there anything else I can do for the other user?

Follow this process and you can say goodbye to those frustrating Password Error prompts forever. This tutorial uses screenshots from Outlook 2016, however, the steps are similar with most Outlook versions.

We will be installing 3 new 2016 Exchange servers that will only be used for the migration of mailboxes to Office 365 so we can achieve greater throughput. They will never be used in the production Exchange environment going forward. Is there a recommended best practice during install or config to avoid these servers ever being used for Autodiscover services and the certificate prompts? If all Exchange traffic hits a load balancer first which directs traffic to the production servers can we just change the internalURI and be done with it?

I am getting the certificate issue for a user on the 2016 server. the cert is SSL form GoDaddy and has the mail domain name. I had to export this from the old 2010 server and import to the new. Per Microsoft instructions, the cert on the Exchange server when viewed has the certificate authorises in the chain as expected. However when you go view the cert from outlook error it does not contain the chain just the email domain. so it states it does not trust the provider.

Having trouble getting my certificate warning to go away and outlook anywhere working properly. My local domain is internal we will say exchange.contoso.internal. I have a FQDN mail.contoso.com that is signed to that domain and also autodiscover.contoso.com. Local clients still get a certificate warning pointing to exchange.contoso.internal after running your powershell script on exchange 2016. In DNS I have authority setup for contoso.com and have an a record for mail.contoso.com pointing to my internal IP of exchange (also one for autodiscover.contoso.com). OWA works from outside and in, mail is flowing. Local outlook clients work fine except for the cert warning. After running the script some outlook clients have troubles connecting, they continually ask for a password even after providing the correct credentials. 2ff7e9595c
